My mom suddenly lost hot water in her house. I live 250 miles away. It was Saturday. Her usual plumber wasn't available. A-1 plumbing had great reviews so I called them. Alice was wonderful and understanding on the phone. They couldn't come out Saturday but she was able to schedule my mom's job the next morning on Sunday. Brian was delayed getting to my mom's house so the office called me twice to keep me updated on his arrival. Once Brian got to the house he called me to direct him to the water heater outside the house. He sent me a video of the problem along with pictures. He gave me a reasonable estimate of the work to be done which was change everything as the water heater was beyond repair. I was able to sign off the job quote via email. When the new unit was installed and functional, he sent me pictures of the work. I was able to pay on-line. The service was impeccable. I would be very happy to use A-1 again for our plumbing needs.

I want to start by saying that both Jose (the plumber) and Alice (assistant/administrator) we're both easy to work with and polite. At the end of the day my drainage was fixed but I have two issues. Pics of the issue and before/after below as well.

1) Jose showed up and diagnosed the problem quickly, he then told me to wait while he puts together an estimate. After a few minutes he says it's going to be $975?! For removing the water, cutting out some of the pipe and replacing it so that he can snake it properly. I said no way that should cost $975 and asked how much is the "water removal" he said $100!! After a lot of back and forth and me saying I needed to get a second estimate from another plumber he told me they could fix it for $475 (and I now had to take out the water myself to save money, which I did and it only took 5-min...). I really wish I didn't have to barter to get a decent price (I assume I still got over charged). Ridiculous that after a few minutes of talking they dropped the price by more than 50% off what he quoted 5 minutes prior. Don't let these guys take advantage of you, if you use them, definitely get a second opinion and negotiate.

2) This is way less minor, but I did try to book through the online "Booking" link. I didn't hear back for about 8-hours until I had to call directly. If I hadn't called I don't think I would've gotten a response. This is not a big deal, but it did delay me getting everything fixed by a day, which is a slight annoyance.
