First experience with SOS. The plumber's service itself was very good, courteous, and professional. He was readily available, and the receptionist was also helpful on the phone. Where things go wrong is with the billing. In addition to a service fee, you're charged an hourly rate for travel time from the last job the plumber completed. So, if the plumber has to cross town in traffic, all that time suddenly appears on your bill. Of course, an additional service charge is added to everything else. In my case, the SOS office is barely 20 minutes from my home, but it cost me more than double that in travel time. Luckily, he wasn't coming from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré... I contested the charge and argued with management that it's deplorable to unknowingly make the customer bear the entire risk of distance and scheduling issues. It was no use. I'll have to think twice before taking another chance on a surprise bill. Too bad, it started off well.
