Our Reliance water tank started leaking Monday evening around 7pm. This tank was replaced by them 10-12 years ago. Helpdesk took my call and said an inspector will be by tomorrow morning between 7-10 am. He called first then came to inspect. Tank was no good and said installer's will be by next morning between 8-10 am. 10:30 came around and no call so I called the helpdesk to find out. Guess our appointment was changed between 10 am-2 pm. Communication could have been better so you lose a star for that. It's hard waiting around having cancelling work and appointments. Got the call at 12 noon and 2 fellas came in and swapped out tanks within 1/2 hour. Nice installers informed me of a few issues which I was aware of but appreciated it. They threw a carpet down the stairs to not muddy them up entering and leaving for parts and such. I have no issues with Reliance, I just hate playing the wait game and having call centre associates that are sometime hard to understand but, that's just the way it is. Thanks gang, I can finally have a shower today!

We paid for Reliance’s service plan for 9 years and the first and only time we needed service in those years was when our furnace broke down during an extended -30 degree cold snap. We called around 9:00 A.M. for emergency service and it went to a call centre far away and were told it would be at least 24 hours just to get someone to look at it. In -30 degrees, that is too long. We called multiple times to plead to get it looked at sooner since -30 is emergency kind of conditions. It took actually visiting the local Reliance office in-person to get them to send someone sooner. The technician came at the end of the that day and without actually taking anything apart to inspect it, he somehow declared that we had a cracked burner and likely a cracked heat exchanger and that the furnace needed to be replaced asap. He said a salesperson would come by the following day to give us some options.We then called a reputable local HVAC company for a 2nd opinion and they came much sooner than Reliance and did a THOROUGH inspection of all the burners and found no evidence whatsoever of the Reliance technician’s claims of cracking. No cracks on visual inspection and no flame flicker. Instead he found a bit of water in the ventilator fan assembly which was correctly causing the furnace to go into failsafe mode. He cleared the water out and continued his inspection of other components to make sure everything else was working well - which it was. Furnace is running perfectly fine now and did not need to be replaced. It did not even need a new part!! Do not rely on Reliance if you need timely service. Do not rely on Reliance if you want honest service. I will be cancelling my plan as it is utterly worthless.
This past Wednesday January 21st I awoke to a cold house and my furnace only kicking in once before completely shutting down. My first call was to Reliance and unfortunately I don’t remember who the woman I spoke to was but she was very helpful and told me she could have a technician come by to check it out shortly, immense relief to me. Braydon came and discovered my furnace was 29 years old and the part if available to order was pricey and to be honest with me the furnace was at end stage and I’d only be throwing good money away with trying to get anymore life out of it. He made a quick call to Jamie Kazminski a Home Comfort Advisor who responded quickly and provided me with several options and went over each one throughly and answered all my questions and helped me reach the option best suited for me. He also provided me with space heaters as the new furnace installation wouldn’t be until Friday. Jamie told me at any time that if I had any concerns or further questions to reach out to him. Being a senior on my own it was so reassuring to have him extend himself so completely to what was at that time complete stranger, thank you Jamie.Friday Morning Jamie, Kyle and Joe arrived to install the furnace and although Jamie had another client to see assured me I could call him at any time if needed. Kyle and Joe did an amazing job of getting the new furnace up and running as we were in the grip of the coldest Polar Vortex I can remember. My experience with Reliance from start to finish made what had started as the traumatic morning of furnace dying to a completely 100% satisfaction. I’d say they went far beyond a 5 out of 5 rating!
Excellent experience. Jamie explained everything in detail. He was easy to talk with and went above and beyond. He took his time and covered every detail clearly, and even followed up after installation to ensure that everything worked out smoothly. Bernie, who installed the system, was also excellent. A friendly guy, he was professional and did a great job. He walked us through how everything works. We highly recommend both Jamie and Bernie for anyone considering a system.
